Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saskatchewan is thrilled to share that we have been awarded funding from the Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) for the next two years. This funding will allow us to continue offering our impactful mentorship programs to youth throughout the province. We are grateful for CIF’s ongoing support and commitment to our organization. Over the years, CIF has been a valuable partner in helping us to make a difference in the lives of young people in Saskatchewan.

CIF is a provincial government agency that supports community initiatives in Saskatchewan through distributing a portion of the net proceeds from Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw. Their mission is to enhance the quality of life for citizens throughout the province by investing in programs that contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities. We are grateful for their support and commitment to our organization’s mission.

The funding provided by CIF will be in the amount of $800,000.00 across the two-year term. With the support of CIF, we can continue to provide these valuable programs to youth across the province. We are committed to creating positive change in our communities and empowering the next generation to succeed.

“CIF has provided funding to Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations in Saskatchewan since our first year of community granting in 1997/1998” noted Tracey Mann, CIF’s Executive Director. “This long-standing partnership reflects the strong alignment between BBBS programming and CIF’s funding priorities of supporting healthy growth and development of children and youth, and individual and community wellbeing. We are confident that this two-year investment will result in many positive short- and long-term outcomes for the youth, their families, and their mentors that are supported through BBBS programs.”

BBBS believes that every child should have the opportunity to reach their full potential, and that’s why we offer mentorship programs that help them do just that. Our programs match youth with caring adult mentors who provide guidance, support, and positive role model.

Saskatoon CEO, Kim Megyesi, expressed her excitement about the partnership with CIF, saying, “By partnering with CIF, we can ensure that we are building resilient youth through mentorship. Empowering youth is not just an investment in their future, but an investment in the future of our communities.”

We want to thank CIF for their generous support and investment in the future of our communities. We look forward to continuing our partnership and creating positive change for youth across Saskatchewan.
